YouTube Goes Down, Causes Widespread Panic and... 911 Calls?

Late Tuesday night, the popular video hosting website YouTube owned by Google went down for several minutes around 7:20 p.m. After what seemed like eons, YouTube finally released a statement on the issue saying it wasn't clear what had caused the outage but about 30-40 minutes later the website was restored.

We're working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated.
— Team YouTube (@TeamYouTube) October 17, 2018

As of 8:00 p.m. PST, YouTube's homepage and videos were back up and running. Speculation flew on Twitter about what could be behind the rare outage of the globe's primary video sharing platform. Police across the United States received calls reporting the YouTube website was not working and demanding they fix the website.

Yes, our @YouTube is down, too. No, please don't call 911 - we can't fix it.
— Philadelphia Police (@PhillyPolice) October 17, 2018

Philadelphia Police tweeted, "Yes, our @YouTube is down, too. No, please don't call 911 - we can't fix it." Multiple Twitter users reported that the website had gone down and with it their views. Linus of Linus Tech Tips tweeted an infographic showing the decline in viewership for the short period the website was down.

Clearly, many people rely on YouTube to make a living and this is more proof that the company has grown too large. It monopolizes a market that has such a powerful influence on our daily lives. Instead of freaking out, people should have been able to pull up an equally good video platform as a result.

Instead, YouTuber's and people around the world panicked as their usual feed of free entertainment or income was suddenly dissolved. The video sharing platform represents the second-most visited website in the United States and exerts a far-left ideology over its users from its monetization programs to its algorithms. Conservatives are targeted while progressive channels are largely unhindered.

YouTube is down for users around the world. The site has been experiencing issues since about 9:15 p.m. Eastern. It's not yet clear why the site, which is the second-most visited in the U.S., is not working.
— dwane de guzman (@DwaneDe) October 17, 2018

What if next time it is a terrorist group or even a political party which holds the most-visited website hostage until its demands are met. Could this secretly have been an attack on the company from a hostile country? Or was this a matter of a technical malfunction at the company's headquarters?

We will likely never get an honest report from YouTube about what happened but it is safe to say that there should more options

available for content creators which can compete with YouTube so that one single company doesn't hold sway over the entire globe.

Cyber attack? They will probably never admit what happened. I personally think it was just AWS going bonkers again

Think deeper into this…

We have a Metro/City focused generation that actually panics if their Cyber world hiccups.

This could be the very generation that might raised and be controlled by what they see on smart phones, tablets and computers via Internet NEWS-SPEAK.

As much as I detest Government getting into private lives and the commercial world.

Congress needs to reel in Politically 1 sided Social-Media and News media.

*They have become politically one sided personal life data mining blackmailers and are Censors of Freedom of Speech.

*Such sites and media should be seen and regulated for what they too often really are.

Information, Opinion and Freedom of Speech Censors trying to steer political views, votes, morals and laws.

They should be regulated like any Political Campaign donor or donation.

They should not be allowed to side in political causes at the Corporate / Media controlled levels.

eg… FB constantly siding with the Liberals and Openly Deleting Conservative views.

This is just a test. *beeeeeeeeeeeeep*

I think it's times like this that we need to remember history more than ever. The war of the worlds radio scare in the United States is very real, many people called police stations in absolute panic from the affect of the show. Fast-forward; Someone has the ability to look at YouTube metrics and see how many people watch, what they watch and how often, this was just a test. They want us divided, subtracted and frightened of speaking up and speaking out! That it has become so obvious now, that (not nearly enough!!!) people DON'T watch the news and believe all of the censorship or 'edited' articles/video clips just presented, this is truly the level that rich, ignorant and arrogant people would go to.

Always have a backup, a backup way of connecting with one another. Twitter, Whatsapp, messenger, no matter the program, especially a newer one. Their greatest weapon is your ignorance, it is their history to perform such actions.

I honestly CAN'T WAIT until the mid-terms! It will be a tsunami, alright…more red than any one can count.
