Amazon Technical Error Exposed Names and Emails of Customers in Major Breach

Amazon announced emails and usernames of their customers were “inadvertently disclosed” due to a “technical error” just before Thanksgiving.

As one of the world's largest online shopping hubs and led by the wealthiest man in America, Jeff Bezos, the news is one that again puts privacy at risk online.

Customers were told about the breach today, but there remains no total number of customers affected as of this time.

Early Black Friday sales are ongoing nationwide at many retailers before the holiday season kicks off, and it remains unknown as to how long the leak of names occurred.

In an interview to Deadline, Amazon said, “We have fixed the issue and informed customers who may have been impacted.”

Amazon reportedly said the following to affected customers in an email:

The issue has been fixed. This is not a result of anything you have done, and there is no need for you to change your password or take any other action.”

The news has yet to affect Amazon’s stock, which is at $1,529.17 as of the time of this writing, up $33.71 today.

It does, however, raise uncertainty about the security of Amazon and preventative measures being taken by the company to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Amazon is another shit outfit that cheapskates flock to for everything. Screw amazon and start shopping locally again as it helps your communities and does not make bezos richer!
