Early Wednesday morning, a Newman police officer in California was shot to death during a traffic stop by an illegal alien. California is known for having millions of illegal immigrants due to the state's numerous sanctuary cities. Stanislaus County Sheriff's department issued a public statement saying that the suspect is still on the run and should be considered armed and dangerous. Some surveillance footage was all that was released to the public in hopes of identifying the man.
Newman Police Chief Randy Richardson said, "Our Newman police family is devastated by the loss of Ronil." The sheriff's department reported that the suspect fled the scene after gunning down Singh before other units arrived. Investigators located a pickup truck they believe in matching the suspects after executing a search warrant at a mobile home park in Newman. The police are currently processing the vehicle for evidence.

The officer who was killed in the line of duty was identified as Fiji native Police Cpl. Ronil Singh, 33, who was with the Newman Police Department since July 2011. Singh was assigned as a canine officer and appeared in several of the department's Instagram photos with his K-9 partner Sam. Prior to being hired by the Newman Police Department, Singh worked for the Merced County Sheriff's Department and the Turlock Police Department.
His last post on his Facebook page was on Christmas Eve and showed pictures from a deep sea fishing trip he took where he caught crabs and fish. His profile photo shows him standing next to his patrol car with his K-9 partner. California Gov. Jerry Brown offered his condolences saying:
"On behalf of all Californians, Anne and I extend our condolences to Corporal Singh's wife, young son, loved ones and colleagues. Our hearts are with the entire community of Newman and law enforcement officers across the state who risk their lives every day to protect and serve the people of California."

It is ironic to hear these words from the California Governor who supports illegal immigration in the state and fought against Trump when he called for more border protection. Cpl. Singh left behind a wife named Anamika and a 5-month-old son. Newman investigators are asking for the public's help to identify the gunman and ask anyone with information to call Detective Michael Fisher at 209-525-7083 or dispatch at 209-552-2468.
