Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner Lead Delegation in US Embassy Opening in Israel

Presidential daughter Ivanka Trump along with her husband and Trump adviser Jared Kushner arrived in Israel on Sunday for the much-anticipated celebration for the relocation of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Other members of the U.S. delegation joined Ivanka and Jared.

President Donald Trump for his part will address those attending the event via a video message.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was visibly happy over the event and heaped praises on Trump at his weekly Cabinet meeting. He said: “President Trump promised to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and he did so. He promised to move the American Embassy to Israel and he is doing so. Of course we will all celebrate this day, a real celebration, tomorrow.”

The Trump administration has already officially recognized Jerusalem last year as the capital city of Jerusalem. The U.S. embassy transfer will take place on Monday. Ivanka and Jared will attend the opening ceremony, along with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. U.S. lawmakers by the dozens will also be part of the U.S. delegation, including Senators Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz.

Ivanka took to social media to share her thoughts on the event. She posted: “I am honored to join the delegation representing @POTUS, his Admin & the American people at this momentous ceremony commemorating the opening of our U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem, Israel. We will pray for the boundless potential of the U.S.-Israel alliance & we will pray for peace.”

Senior Trump officials previously shared that the embassy at its new location will employ an initial staff of at least 50 people, which will include Ambassador David Friedman’s aides and U.S. consular offices who were already working at the pre-existing visa and passport site where the embassy will now be included.

Ivanka and Jared just attended a gala dinner on Sunday evening ahead of the event the following day.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Thank you Prime Minister <a href="https://twitter.com/netanyahu?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@netanyahu</a> &amp; Mrs. Netanyahu for the warm welcome to Israel.
