While Western countries may be pandering to social justice and identity politics, Russia is not interested in playing games with the left. The country has jailed a feminist blogger and charged her with inciting hatred toward men on social media.
Lyubov Kalugina is a self-described radical feminist who warned the SOVA Center anti-extremist group in late August that she was the subject of a pre-investigation check of her social media following an anonymous complaint.

The complainant was an anonymous man who said Kalugina's posts insulted him as a male. Kalugina experience is the latest in an increasing campaign of anti-extremism laws when it comes to social media. Prosecutions are rarely applied to social media, especially when it comes to gender-related posts.
The Omsk branch of the Investigative Committee said Wednesday, "Criminal charges have been brought against Kalugina under Article 282 of the Russian Criminal Code." The charges could see Kalugina jailed for up to five years under article 282 that bans the "incitement of national, racial or religious enmity."

The charges alarmed Russian activists and leftist social media networks who are used to being the ones who get to say who is inciting hate. The topic has even divided legislators who say that the anti-extremism charges may sweep up ordinary users who posted insensitive texts or images. Hmm.. sounds a lot like the persecution of conservatives like Alex Jones in America who are being systematically targeted by far-left tech giants.
