I hear a lot of complaints lately about "whataboutism" but regardless, I think it's important to note some glaring double standards that seem to be with contemporary Zionism. There are so striking examples, but here I will primarily focus on the issue of immigration and activism. Lately, as reported in Ha'aretz, Israel's state security apparatus has barred some 250 people from entering Israel despite being Jewish. One Jewish activist from the US was refused entry on the grounds that she had visited the West Bank. Currently, the attorney general is set to rule on whether detention of immigration activists in Israel should continue.
This makes sense, of course, Israel has been rapidly changing. Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to double down on Jewish Supremacy or "Jewish superiority" as Ha'aretz refers to it (potato, potato if you ask me). The recent Israeli Declaration of Independence sets up Jews as first-class citizens and all others (especially the indigenous Palestinians, but also Ethiopian Jews and other African migrants).
There have actually been Jewish groups who were able to navigate the monumental cognitive dissonance resulting from opposing Trump immigration policy or any efforts to close borders in the EU while maintaining that Israel "could not survive" literally or culturally if mass migration were allowed. You don't say!
In the article at Ha'aretz the specific case of a Jewish student from the US being nearly refused entry despite all paperwork being in order was explicated. That said, even Israeli citizens have been detained at the airport while attempting to enter Israel due to activism related to immigration or Palestinian causes.
The term "second-class citizen" gets thrown out a lot but an analysis piece in Ha'aretz breaks down how the new Israeli law makes the once de facto, prevalence of prejudice de jure. Rabbis have called for renters not to rent homes to Arabs, that includes Palestinians who were living there for generations before Jews from Brooklyn or Eastern Europe showed up in droves to dispossess the original inhabitants. Jews claim Israel as their birthright due to the historical claim in the Old Testament and Torah. Do they not recall how even by that account they were not the original inhabitants.
Worldwide clamor was raised about the Black Lives Matter movement as if cops just randomly sprayed gunfire into crowds of African Americans for merely carrying signs of protest. Of course that has never happened, this is America, not Israel where it's illegal to film IDF soldiers committing war crimes, where some thousand plus were injured and fatalities in the triple digits, where children 10 and younger are murdered "accidentally" in drone strikes.
I have seen Jewish people on Twitter scoff at the Palestinian March of Return, claiming that they were co-opting the Zionist principle of the Law of Return.
Many of these Palestinians are children or grandchildren of people ripped from their homes. Why should they not have a right to return to homes that are in some cases still standing when Jews, some of whom hadn't been anywhere near the Holy Land in literal millennia, have a supposed "God-given" birthright and mandate from the Israeli government to deny them their birthright?
Meanwhile, Barbara Spectre represents a contingent of Zionists who feel no issue in demographic displacement of Europe and the US via open borders and weaponized immigration:
"I think there's a resurgence of antisemitism because at this point in time Europe has not yet learned how to be multicultural, and I think we're going be part of the throes of that transformation, which must take place. Europe has not yet learned how to be multicultural. Europe is not going to be the monolithic societies that they once were in the last century. Jews are going to be at the center of that. It's a huge transformation for Europe to make. They are now going into a multicultural mode, and Jews will be resented because of our leading role. But without that leading role, and without that transformation, Europe will not survive."

G-d forbid we turn her logic on its ear and apply it to Israel itself.
