A fire broke out at a Trump Tower apartment in the high rise owned by the president Saturday shortly after 5:30 pm. "The apartment was virtually entirely on fire. They pushed in heroically, they were knocking down the fire, they found one occupant of the apartment on the 50th floor," Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.

People walking on the streets below captured video of the flames leaping out of the building on the 50th floor. A 67-year-old man was rushed to Mount Sinai West hospital but was pronounced dead when he arrived. Nigro said four firefighters suffered non-life threatening injuries and two of them were burned by the fire.

"We found fire on the 50th floor of the building," Nigro continued. "The apartment was entirely on fire. Members pushed in heroically, they were knocking down the fire and found one occupant of the apartment who is in critical condition."
The fire commissioner also confirmed no members of the First Family were present at the time of the fire. The residence where the President sometimes spends his time is being checked by the Secret Service for damages but none have been reported at this time.
Trump tweeted Saturday evening, "Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well-built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!"
