Independence day is a day to commemorate our freedom and liberty. One popular pastime for Independence Day I've always enjoyed is watching action films. This year, I found myself watching a double feature of "western samurai" pictures that had me thinking about the principles of bushido, self sacrifice and how they apply to the concept of patriotism. If it weren't for self sacrifice, likely, there would be no free country where we stand currently.
